Janira Hopffer Almada wants to transform the National Assembly’s atrium into a permanent exhibition space

Mindelo, Aug. 6 (Inforpress) – The President of the National Assembly announced today in São Vicente that the institution is working to transform the atrium of the National Assembly Palace into a permanent exhibition space aimed at promoting and showcasing Cape Verdean artistic creation.

The announcement was made on the sidelines of his first official visit to the country since taking office, during which he visited the exhibition “50 Years of Memory, Creation and Resistance” at the National Centre for Art, Crafts and Design (CNAD)

“As President of the National Assembly, it would be a serious oversight not to visit this exhibition while in São Vicente. We want to play our part in promoting and enhancing our culture,” she said, adding that the visit reinforces her commitment to bringing culture closer to the country's highest parliamentary institution.

Janira Hopffer Almada revealed that work is already under way to create a permanent space dedicated to the arts at the National Assembly Palace.
