Praia City, July 7 (Inforpress) – The president of the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) confirmed today in Praia that the institution has already begun risk communication campaigns targeted at the warm season, aiming to prevent the usual seasonal outbreaks.

Maria da Luz Lima, speaking to the press on the sidelines of the presentation of the results of the "Guardians of Health" project, explained that the awareness campaigns are focused on the prevention of diarrheal and vector-borne diseases, with special attention to dengue fever and malaria.

Given these concerns, the head of INSP appealed to the entire population to strengthen basic sanitation and rigorously eliminate mosquito breeding sites in and around their homes.

“This year, the institute is also issuing a special warning to people with chronic conditions, particularly those with diabetes,” emphasised Maria da Luz Lima, recommending moderation in diet and extra vigilance to prevent serious health complications.
