Praia, Apr 22 (Inforpress) – The inspector-general of the General Inspectorate of Economic Activities (IGAE) acknowledged today progress in the institution’s oversight, but admitted recurring problems, particularly expired products, an area in which consumers “play an essential role in reporting”.
According to Paulo Monteiro, speaking to Inforpress, most complaints come from the island of São Vicente, where the population has shown “greater awareness” regarding expired products in minimarkets.
However, he noted, the situation still requires more attention in other parts of the country.
“The first inspector is the citizen himself, that is, the consumer. People should not go to shops, buy a product and only at home realize that it is expired and unfit for consumption,” the inspector warned.
