Praia, Jul 2 (Inforpress) - Today, the president of the Cape Verdean Institute for Children and Adolescents (ICCA) stressed the importance of reactivating the Municipal Committee for the defence of children and adolescents' rights in the municipality and strengthening the protection network.

These statements were made in the city of Praia, as part of the municipal meeting ‘A protective municipality without violence’, on the slogan “The commitment of the municipality of Praia to protecting children and adolescents against sexual abuse and exploitation”.

Zaida Freitas addressed ‘the urgent need’ to strengthen the protection network for children and adolescents, especially in a context of operational and budgetary challenges.

In her speech, the president pointed out that the Statute of the Child and Adolescent (ECA) requires the creation and operation of municipal defence committees in all 22 municipalities.
