City of Praia, Feb 11 (Inforpress) – The president of the Cape Verdean Handball Federation (FCA) today expressed satisfaction with the national team’s placement in Pot 3 of the World Championship draw, underscoring the sport’s growth and consolidation at international level.
Reacting to the team’s allocation to Pot 3 of the Handball World Championship, Ângela Almeida said the placement reflects the team’s intermediate-to-high level, its regular participation in World Championships, continental competitiveness and its consolidation as Africa’s third force.
“It is not just a position in the draw. Being in Pot 3 means we are already regarded as an intermediate-to-high-level team, with consistent appearances at World Championships and strong continental competitiveness. We have positioned ourselves as Africa’s third force and are raising our international standing,” Ângela Almeida stated.
She explained that the placement allows Cabo Verde to compete with Pot 4 teams with an advantage and to contest balanced matches against Pot 2 teams, reinforcing the perception that Cabo Verde is a “dangerous team” on the world stage.
