Government highlights the strategic role of multilateral cooperation in CPLP judicial systems

Praia, Jun 26 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Justice highlighted today the importance of multilateral judicial cooperation in the CPLP as an essential instrument to modernize justice systems, promote greater efficiency and reinforce trust and legal certainty among member states.

The statement was made by Joana Rosa at the opening ceremony of the Joint Meeting of the CPLP International Legal and Judicial Cooperation Network (RJCPLP), which takes place today and Friday, 27th, under the rotating presidency of Cabo Verde.

“(…) We cannot talk about justice today without strategically integrating information and communication technologies. Multilateral judicial cooperation is the path to faster, more transparent justice that is closer to citizens,” said the minister, highlighting the role of the recently established Institute for Modernization and Innovation in Justice (IMIS) and the Justice Information System, already in operation in the country.

The meeting marks the 20th anniversary of the creation of the RJCPLP, a horizontal structure composed of contact points appointed by the ministries of justice of the member countries, and, for the first time in more than a decade, brings together simultaneously the civil and criminal units of the network.
