Government emphasises progress in maternal child health and warns of challenges in child protection

Praia, Jun 16 (Inforpress) - Today, the Minister of Health highlighted advances in maternal and child health in the country, such as 95% vaccination coverage and family support programmes, and warned of the social challenges and risks of the digital environment.

Jorge Figueiredo made these remarks while chairing the conference "Parental responsibility: the role of parents in child education and protection" held today in Praia to mark the Day of the African Child.

The event was promoted by the Ministry of Health, through the National Health Directorate-National Child Health Programme, with the aim of promoting inter-institutional dialogue between the different partners and civil society.

On the occasion, Jorge Figueiredo highlighted the importance of the theme, especially in the month dedicated to children and in the context of the 50th anniversary of Cabo Verde's independence.
