Football/CV Championship: Toca Leite dreams of a second consecutive title in his father’s homeland and promises a “spectacular” final

Ribeira Grande, 2 July (Inforpress) – The coach of Palmeira said today that the reigning champions are determined to fight for a second consecutive title against Mindelense, in a final he described as special because it is being played in Ponta do Sol, the place where his family has its roots.

On his arrival today in Santo Antão, the venue for the national football championship final, Toca Leite stated that reaching the final was in itself an achievement, but he assured that Palmeira would do everything in their power to retain the title against Mindelense on Saturday at the João Serra Stadium.

For Toca Leite, the final has special significance as it is being played in his father’s hometown, where he spent part of his childhood.

‘Just the fact that we’ve reached the final is a goal achieved in itself. And because it’s here in Ponta do Sol, for me it’s a dream come true, because it’s my father’s hometown, where I practically grew up. Playing in a Cape Verdean league final here is a dream come true,’ he said.
