Praia, Oct 27 (Inforpress) – The demonstration by employees of the General Directorate of Taxes and Contributions (DGCI), scheduled for today, was postponed after the Minister of Finance requested the suspension of the protest, committing to resolve the demands presented within 15 days.
According to Chief Tax Inspector António Soares, the suspension follows a meeting held on Sunday the 26th with the Minister of Finance, the Secretary of State for Finance and the National Director.
António Soares, speaking on behalf of the workers, explained that the minister requested a 15-day period to resolve the employees' main demands, namely the issue of dependencies, the process of which "is only awaiting the opinion" of the Minister of Administrative Modernization.
He added that after listening to and gathering input from all departments, they considered and decided to postpone the demonstration, granting the minister this deadline, but stressed that if he does not comply, they will hold another demonstration.
