CIGEF mobilizes students to deconstruct gender stereotypes through video production

Praia, Jun 10 (Inforpress) – Today, the center of Research of Gender and Family at the University of Cabo Verde, began a series of debates on gender and sexuality, in which aim to deconstruct stereotypes through the production of videos involving students.

Carmelita Silva, director of the Research Centre of Gender and Family (CIGEF), told the press that the series of debates came about as part of a project that began in 2023 and aims to empower young people with regard to sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence (GBV).

Carmelita Silva added that the project aimed to produce short videos that would serve as awareness-raising tools and support the deconstruction of gender stereotypes.

The work is in partnership with the Fladu Flá theatre group and the Fund of United Nations for Population (UNFPA).
