Praia, September 2 (Inforpress) – The Ministry of Health has reactivated the rapid response technical team to address a possible introduction of the Mpox virus, known as monkeypox, after a case was identified in Dakar, Senegal.
The information was given by the Minister of Health, Jorge Figueiredo, on the sidelines of a press conference to review the country's participation in the 75th Session of the World Health Organization Regional Committee for Africa.
According to the minister, the multidisciplinary team resumed work based on a contingency plan drawn up in 2023, which will now be updated in light of the latest guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO).
"Yesterday we were working internally at the Ministry to reactivate the rapid response technical team for the introduction of Mpox. (...) Today we already have the plan; it was drawn up last year, and we determined that this plan be updated quickly," said the governor, assuring that the plan includes prevention actions at the borders, in hospitals, and in health departments.
