Budget Support Group concludes mission in Cabo Verde with focus on reforms and economic sustainability

Praia, Jul 1 (Inforpress) - The Budget Support Group (GAO) for Cabo Verde concluded its evaluation mission on Monday, underlining its commitment to continue supporting the government with grants and loans that are aligned with national development priorities.

At a press conference, Marly Cruz, the African Development Bank (AfDB) expert for GAO and Governance, thanked the government, especially the Ministry of Finance and other public bodies, for their collaboration during the mission.

The GAO mission highlighted economic growth of 7.3 per cent in 2024, driven by the good performance of the tourism sector.

However, GAO partners warned of risks associated with geopolitical tension, which could lead to higher energy prices and a slowdown in growth in Cabo Verde’s main trading partners.
