Brava: Fishermen clamour for a boat mooring in the community of Furna
21/05/25 - 12:32 pm

Nova Sintra, May 21 (Inforpress) - The fishermen of the Furna community, on the island of Brava, are clamouring for the construction of a boat mooring in this fishing area, so that they can have better working conditions.

According to the fishermen interviewed by Inforpress today, fishing in Furna has been hampered by the lack of infrastructure for access to the sea, namely fishing piers or boat moorings.

For Alfredo Garcia, having at least one trawler on Furna beach would solve a ‘major problem’ for fishermen, who also need a beach that can fit all their boats.

‘We do need a trawler, but we also need a very clean beach that can fit all the dinghies comfortably, that would be very good, because at the moment, apart from the terrible conditions on the beaches, space is very limited,’ he said.
