Praia, 26 May (Inforpress) – A technical fault in a large pump at the Palmarejo desalination plant is affecting the water supply on the island of Santiago, with the system expected to return to normal next week, Electra announced today.
In a statement, the company explained that the incident caused one of the units at one of the desalination plants to be taken out of service, resulting in a temporary reduction in production capacity and water supply to the distribution network operated by Águas de Santiago (AdS).
According to the same source, the entire technical team is fully mobilised and committed to resolving the fault, working round the clock to minimise the impact of the situation and fully restore the system to normal operation.
The company also thanked consumers for their understanding and urged them to use water sensibly and responsibly until the water supply returns to normal.
