The Kontornu Festival has shown that it is possible to organise a festival of international stature in this country – organisers

Praia, 21 May (Inforpress) – The director of the Kontornu Festival, Djan Neguin, said today that Cape Verde has what it takes to create an international festival without losing its deep connection to the country’s cultural heritage.

The statement was made to Inforpress during the review of the 4th edition of the Kontornu Festival, held from 11 to 16 May in the city of Praia, which he described as a moment of confirmation, but also of expansion.

“We have confirmed that there is an audience in Cabo Verde eager for contemporary, bold and sensitive works, and at the same time, we have realised that the festival has moved beyond the idea of being merely a dance event,” he said, describing the festival as a platform for thought, connection and transformation through the performing arts

According to Djan Neguin, dance and the performing arts have undergone a revolution in the way they are experienced in the country.
