Praia, Apr 29 (Inforpress) – The secretary-general of the PTS party stated today that the party’s president did not take part in the RTC debate, held as part of the legislative election campaign, due to a sudden illness after dinner.
Jailson Gonçalves was speaking at a press conference in Praia, convened to publicly clarify the reasons behind the absence of the president of the People, Work and Solidarity Party (PTS) from Monday’s debate with leaders of the five parties contesting the legislative elections.
The debate, organized by Radiotelevisão de Cabo Verde (RTC), was attended by three parties, namely the presidents of the Movement for Democracy (MpD), the Independent and Democratic Cape Verdean Union (UCID) and the Popular Party (PP).
PTS justified the absence of its leader, Jónica Tavares, citing health reasons, namely a sudden illness after dining at a restaurant, from where she was to head directly to the debate, but expressed openness to participate in upcoming debates.
