Lisbon, Apr 21 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, highlighted on Monday the “excellent integration” of the Cape Verdean community in Porto and advocated strengthening decentralized cooperation between municipalities in Cabo Verde and Portugal.
“This community is very well integrated, very well received. And for us this is very important, because it helps to strengthen the already excellent relations of friendship and cooperation between Cabo Verde and Portugal and, in this case, the city of Porto,” said the head of State at a press conference at City Council of Porto.
On the second of a six-day visit to Portugal, as part of the fifth edition of the Presidency in the Diaspora, the Cape Verdean president paid special attention to health, as well as local government and decentralized cooperation.
Received with military honors at Porto City Hall, José Maria Neves acknowledged and thanked Mayor Pedro Duarte for the high level of integration of the Cape Verdean community in the “Invincible City”.
