Mindelo, April 13 (Inforpress) – The PAICV leader in São Vicente, Adilson Jesus, today demanded “the immediate intervention” of the National Elections Commission (CNE), denouncing alleged violations of the Electoral Code within the framework of the commemorative program for Mindelo City Day.

In a press conference, the regional leader of the African Party for the Independence of Cabo  Verde (PAICV) stated that he expresses "vehement indignation" at what he considered to be a "flagrant violation of democratic principles" by the São Vicente city council, under the administration of the Movement for Democracy (MpD).

This, he explained, was due to "promoting acts of an electoral nature" during the period of legal prohibition.

According to the president of the PAICV Regional Political Commission, the official program of the commemorations, scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, includes initiatives that constitute inaugurations and launches of works, practices prohibited during the electoral period, according to article 97 of the Electoral Code.
