Ribeira Grande, 8 April (Inforpress) – Staff at the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment in Ribeira Grande, Santo Antão, reported today that they have been without cover from the National Social Security Institute (INPS) for almost seven months, despite monthly deductions being made from their salaries.
In statements to Inforpress, under anonymity for fear of reprisals, the workers claim that, since October of last year, regular deductions have been made for the INPS (National Social Security Institute), without them being able to benefit from the respective services to date.
“We don’t have medication coverage, which is embarrassing. I went to buy medication and had to pay the full amount because I don’t have INPS (National Social Security Institute) deductions, yet they are deducting it from my salary every month,” reported one of the employees.
According to the complainants, the situation has generated concern and outrage among the workers, who say they have received no clarification from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment about what is happening.
