Praia, April 6 (Inforpress) – Former leader of the Movement for Democracy (MpD), Alberto Mello, recently disaffiliated from this party, confirmed today to Inforpress that he will head the UCID list for Santiago Sul, as an independent.
Alberto Mello, also known as Beta, announced his departure from the MpD party, claiming that he does not have the space under the current leadership to continue contributing with independence, critical thinking, and commitment to the common good.
On March 30th, the former leader confirmed, through his Facebook page, that he was not part of the MpD list for the legislative elections of May 17th, explaining that the decision resulted from a personal assessment within the framework of preparing the candidacies..
Alberto Mello indicated that he did not meet the conditions to be included on the list "in terms consistent" with his political career, the work he has done, and the relationship of trust he has established with citizens, emphasizing that it was a "considered" decision taken with respect for the institutions.
