The book “São Filipe: One Saint, One Parish” records “relevant milestones” of the community – bishop

Praia, April 6 (Inforpress) – The book “São Filipe: One Saint, One Parish” will be launched on the 17th, at the Achada de São Filipe Parish Complex, in a ceremony presided over by Father Irineu Correia, and records “relevant milestones” of the community.

This work, whose proceeds from sales, according to the author Filomeno Tavares, will go towards the construction of the Church of São Filipe, was prefaced by the Bishop of Santiago, Dom Arlindo Furtado.

“The work of Professor Filomeno Tavares reflects very well the spirit  and dynamism that have characterised this community [of Achada de São Filipe] from the very beginning,” wrote Cardinal Arlindo Furtado, for whom successive parish priests were able to “promote the active role of the laity” at all levels in the consolidation of the community itself, making it “one of the leading parishes”.

According to Dom Arlindo, the author, "very attentive and deeply involved in the life of the community," records "interesting and historically significant data" on the evolution of the community, now the Parish of Saint Philip the Apostle, even presenting photographic "relevant moments" of parish life.
