Football/North Santo Antão: Santo Crucifixo crowned regional champion after beating Solpontense (2-0)

Ribeira Grande, April 3 (Inforpress) – Santo Crucifixo was crowned regional football champion of Santo Antão Norte this Wednesday after beating Solpontense 2-0, in the last round of the 2025-2026 season.

The two teams entered the field separated by one point, with Solpontense in the lead and needing only a draw, but the team from Ponta do Sol was unable to hold onto the title.

Santo Crucifixo took the lead in the 14th minute through Danielson, the tournament’s top scorer. Solpontense had a chance to equalise in the 38th minute, but Nilson, finding himself unmarked, allowed goalkeeper Vitalino to make the save.

In the second half, Santo Crucifixo took control of the game and sealed the result in the 93rd minute with a goal from Djó, securing the title three years on.
