Mindelo, April 1 (Inforpress) – The revision of the law against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) begins this year and aims to overcome constraints in its application, the president of the Cape Verdean Institute for Equality and Gender Equity (ICIEG) announced today in Mindelo.
In statements to the press during the conference "Strategic reflection and institutional solutions to combat Gender-Based Violence," Marisa Carvalho explained that, although the legislation is considered "robust and progressive," its practical implementation still faces significant challenges.
Among the main problems identified is the difficulty in interpreting the concepts of gender and gender-based violence, which negatively influences the entire process, from case analysis to evidence gathering and victim protection.
According to the official, these limitations "have contributed to the high number of archived cases, often associated with weaknesses in the evidentiary process."
