MpD deputies announce their withdrawal from the party lists and pledge to continue serving the country
30/03/26 - 01:20 pm

Praia, 30 March (Inforpress) – MPs Paulo Veiga and Alberto Mello revealed today that they will not be standing as candidates for the MpD in the upcoming general election, confirming their withdrawal from the next parliamentary term, but they promise to continue serving the country.

In a post published today on his Facebook page, Paulo Veiga announced the decision, stating that “the journey continues, with the people and for Cabo Verde”, and emphasising that serving the country as a minister, parliamentary leader and member of parliament had been “one of the greatest honours” of his life.

The MP also said he had carried out his duties with a “sense of mission” and with the conviction that it is possible to “do more and do better” for Cabol Verde, thanking the party for its trust and for the opportunity to serve.

Paulo Veiga suggested that this was a decision taken by the party leadership when he stated that he accepted the decision not to be included on the lists “calmly” and with a “sense of responsibility”, whilst assuring, however, that he intends to remain active in public life, viewing the coming term as an opportunity to be “even closer to the people and the reality of the country”.
