City of Praia, 16 Mar (Inforpress) – The Head of Cooperation of the European Union argued today that updating the legal and fiscal framework of civil society organizations is the missing step to unlock the potential of young people and women in Cabo Verde.

Cristobal Delgado Matas made these remarks at the opening of the Workshop for the Validation of Legislative Proposals on the Legal Framework for Public Funding to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the Statute of Social and Solidarity Economy Entities.

For the diplomat, the moment is to “move forward with modernization” so that support actually reaches the most vulnerable.

At one point in his speech, referring to the experience of Cooperatives, from the personal to the global level, Delgado Matas, the son of farmers from a mountain area in southern Spain, shared his own family success story through cooperatives to illustrate the power of the social economy, recalling how the creation of an olive oil cooperative transformed his community.
