Porto Inglês, 11 Mar (Inforpress) – The Regional Political Commission (CPR) of PAICV on the island of Maio today described the recent visit of the prime minister as “a piece of theatre”, arguing that the moment should instead be one of accountability.
The position was expressed at a press conference by the president of the CPR of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV), Nuno Assis, who criticised what he considers to be a visit marked by announcements and promises.
According to the official, the Government has been carrying out a “tour of the islands”, and it is now the turn of the island of Maio.
According to Nuno Assis, what was witnessed during the visit was “the presentation of a theatrical play”, in which, allegedly, the prime minister assumed the role of “playwright”, while other members of the executive performed staging and acting roles, leaving the island’s inhabitants merely as “extras”.
