Porto Novo, 04 Mar (Inforpress) – The MpD (ruling party) deputy elected for Santo Antão, Damião Medina, stated today that his PAICV (opposition) colleague, Rosa Rocha, also elected for this constituency, is “the last person to speak about the airport” of this island.
“The PAICV deputy for Santo Antão is the last person who should speak about the Santo Antão airport,” noted Damião Medina, in reaction to statements by Rosa Rocha that the Government is engaging in “theatre” with the signing of the memorandum with Cabo Verde Airports regarding the airport infrastructure.
While serving as mayor of the Porto Novo City Council during the 2012–2016 term, Rosa Rocha, according to the MpD parliamentarian, “did not have the capacity to encourage and demand from her Government the construction of the airport.”
At that time, Damião Medina continued, PAICV was in power, but Rosa Rocha, as mayor, should have required compliance with her party’s promise regarding the airport, recalling that PAICV, which governed Cabo Verde from 2001 to 2016, “only spoke about the airport on election campaign stages.”
