São Filipe, Mar 02 (Inforpress) – A mission from England arrived on the island on Sunday to continue the study on the potential for seabird watching in the region encompassing the islands of Fogo and Brava, and the Ilhéus do Rombo.

The information was provided by the executive director of the Vitó Project Association, Herculano Dinis, who added that the new mission runs from March 01 to 15, during which several sea trips will be carried out to monitor and record the presence of species, allowing comparison of the results with the data collected last year.

The objective, according to the official, is to gather sufficient information to assess whether there are consistent conditions to develop, in the future, a structured birdwatching programme on a larger scale, capable of attracting visitors interested in nature tourism.

Herculano Dinis explained that, with two or three consecutive years of consistent data, it will be possible to create a more “robust and comprehensive” birdwatching programme for the Fogo/Brava region.
