Praia, Feb 25 (Inforpress) – Deputy Prime Minister Olavo Correia today launched, in Praia, a pan-African challenge of the “highest urgency” to create 1.2 billion jobs over the next decade, in order to prevent despair, forced migration and the perpetuation of poverty.
These remarks were made during his address at the opening of the 3rd edition of the African Postal Leaders Forum, an event promoted by the Universal Postal Union (UPU), in partnership with the Government and Correios de Cabo Verde.
This year’s theme was “Consolidation and Convergence: Priorities for a Modern and Interoperable African Postal Network”, bringing together 54 African countries and territories.
During his address, Olavo Correia warned that, according to the best estimates made by the African Development Bank, the continent may be capable of creating 400 million jobs.
