Mindelo, Feb 23 (Inforpress) – The island of São Vicente will host, from March 7 to 12, a cycle of international conferences that will bring together specialists from Cabo Verde, Brazil, Guinea-Bissau, and Portugal to discuss the future of the territory and urban planning policies.
The initiative is by the International Seminar on Outros Bairros (ISOB), which, in a note sent to Inforpress, stated that the event will feature roundtable discussions, the presentation of the website-archive “Outros Bairros,” the launch of a reflective book, workshops, and an exhibition.
The meeting will address topics such as governance, urban planning, architecture, public policies, and heritage, based on the experience of the Outros Bairros Initiative (IOB) at different stages of its journey, where a relational urbanism approach was adopted, focused on understanding the lifestyle of the local population.
"This experiential foundation seeks to stimulate and disseminate a broader reflection on self-produced territories existing in Cape Verde, through the contribution of the people invited to the conferences, the participation of residents involved in all IOB activities, and the deputies elected from the São Vicente constituency in the roundtables," explains the organization.
