Emicela Team Cabo Verde departs short of three athletes for Foz Côa Douro Trail Adventure 2026

Praia, Feb 19 (Inforpress) – The Emicela Team Cabo Verde delegation departed this morning for Portugal to compete in the Foz Côa Douro Trail Adventure 2026, short of three athletes whose inter-island connecting flights were cancelled due to dry haze.

According to information provided to Inforpress by the team’s organisation, athlete Milly Brito, from São Nicolau island (winner of the “The Best Trail Series 2025” circuit and Corrida da Liberdade Praia 2026), Daty Miranda, from Santa Catarina do Fogo, winner of Corrida da Liberdade Praia 2026, and Samuel Miranda (Mosteiros), were unable to leave their islands of origin due to flight cancellations.

As a result of this setback, Cabo Verde will be represented in the event, taking place from the 20th to the 22nd of this month, by only four of the seven registered athletes: Cavickson Fortes, Bruce dos Santos, Manuel Miranda and Djulay Pina.

In the 17-kilometre race, Bruce dos Santos, Cavickson Fortes and Manuel Miranda will compete, while in the 31-kilometre category Djulay Pina will be the sole Cape Verdean representative.
