Judicial Police and Central Bank of Cabo Verde sign protocol to strengthen fight against counterfeiting and management of seized assets

Praia, Feb 17 (Inforpress) – The Judicial Police and the Central Bank of Cabo Verde signed a cooperation protocol on Monday to strengthen the prevention and repression of counterfeiting, as well as to improve the management and custody of assets seized in the country.

The information is contained in an official statement issued by the Judicial Police and published on its institutional website.

According to the same source, the protocol was signed in Praia by the National Director of the Judicial Police, Manuel da Lomba, and the administrator of the Central Bank, Antónia Lopes, constituting an important step in strengthening institutional cooperation in combating economic and financial crime in Cabo Verde.

The agreement establishes procedures for the submission, analysis and processing of suspected or counterfeit banknotes, information sharing, preparation of expert and statistical reports, as well as the conduct of joint training actions for staff of both institutions.

The protocol also provides for coordination in the custody of assets seized by the Judicial Police, including national and foreign currency, ensuring the necessary procedures for custody, preservation and restitution, in accordance with the law.
