Praia, Feb 12 (Inforpress) – The president of Praia’s Electoral Registration Commission (CRE) today said a new database is needed to optimise data management and ensure greater operational efficiency.
Manuel Teixeira, who took office as head of CRE-Praia in October 2025, told Inforpress that investing in a new database is an “essential step” to modernise the current system and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
According to Teixeira, the existing database includes individuals who emigrated long ago and have never exercised their right to vote in Cabo Verde, as well as deceased persons who remain on the electoral rolls.
“It is necessary to have a more realistic database in Cabo Verde because with a more accurate database even the issue of abstention could be reduced,” he observed.
