Nova Sintra, Jan 29 (Inforpress) – The Vitó Project is hosting, until next Saturday, a photographic exhibition at Eugénio Tavares Square showcasing the biodiversity of the islands of Fogo and Brava, with the aim of bringing the population closer to environmental conservation efforts.

Speaking to Inforpress, Deusa Araújo, coordinator of sustainable fisheries for the Vitó Project, explained that the exhibition features images representing local fauna and flora, with particular focus on seabirds, endemic plants and the Fogo Island World Biosphere Reserve.

According to the same source, the exhibition reflects the work carried out by the non-governmental organization (NGO) in the region, particularly on Ilhéu de Cima and in the Ilhéu do Rombo Reserve, where species such as the tropicbird, shearwater, Bulwer’s petrel and blue shearwater are monitored.

“The exhibition also includes illustrative panels of gannet colonies on Brava, as well as various photographs portraying the island as a whole,” she said, noting that the initiative also reflects activities carried out in the municipality.
