Mindelo, Jan 28 (Inforpress) – The rehabilitation works set to begin in the coming days in São Vicente, aimed at restoring the island after Tropical Storm Erin, are estimated at 3.5 million contos and will be implemented by four partners.

The project was presented this morning at the City Council of São Vicente, where the construction contract was also formally signed. The partners include the City Council of São Vicente, Enapor, Estradas de Cabo Verde (ECV) and Infraestruturas de Cabo Verde (ICV).

According to the Minister of Infrastructure, Spatial Planning and Housing, Victor Coutinho, this step “demonstrates that the methodology adopted” on the island since the storm “is producing results”.

He explained that the Government and the municipal authorities initially acted in an emergency response phase and are now moving forward with a strategic recovery plan for São Vicente.
