Brava: Farmers and breeders complain about water shortages and question delays in completing desalination plant

Nova Sintra, 26 January (Inforpress) – Farmers and livestock breeders on Brava Island are expressing concern this Sunday about the persistent water shortage and questioning the delay in completing the seawater desalination project.

Speaking to Inforpress, farmer Nelson Tavares said that the water problem on the island ‘has been dragging on for a long time,’ directly affecting agricultural production and the daily lives of the population.

According to him, he is currently forced to buy around two tonnes of this liquid at a price of almost three thousand escudos in order to water his vegetable garden.

He added that even water for domestic use has been in short supply in several areas of the island.
