Praia, Jan 09 (Inforpress) – The opposition PAICV today called on the Government to suspend the privatizations announced at the end of the legislative term, considering them “politically imprudent,” a position also shared by UCID, while MpD disagreed.
The spokesperson for the parliamentary group of the African Party for the Independence of Cabo Verde (PAICV), Mário Teixeira, said that previous experiences had resulted in a “social, economic and financial disaster.”
“The way the Government has managed public affairs at the end of the legislative term, namely through privatizations and the sale of strategic assets, constitutes a serious problem of democratic governance, which requires a clear and forthright political denunciation,” the PAICV lawmaker stated.
Mário Teixeira made these remarks during a political statement delivered ahead of the session prior to the order of the day.
