Athletics/São Vicente: Third Edition of São Silvestrinha Involves About 150 Children

Mindelo, Dec 30 (Inforpress) – Rua de Lisboa, in Mindelo, today hosted the third edition of the São Silvestrinha competition, allowing the participation of around 150 children aged 5 to 18, with the aim of encouraging the practice of athletics, according to the organizers.

Organized by the Dimaz Athletics School, several endurance and sprint events were held in different categories—Benjamin A and B, Initiates, Juveniles, and Juniors—in both female and male divisions.

Around one hundred and fifty children registered on site, which left the school’s president, Ary Dimas, “quite satisfied” to be able to encourage athletics from an early age.

“Previously, we did not have grassroots training, but this is work we have been doing for five years, since the official establishment of the school,” explained the promoter, who intends to continue this work through to the senior level.
