Praia City, Dec 23 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic today called for respect for institutions, the Constitution and the separation of powers while commenting on the case involving the City Council of Praia and the Office of the Attorney General (PGR), warning of the risks of the judicialization of politics and the politicization of justice.

José Maria Neves made these statements to the press on the sidelines of a visit he carried out today to the Oncology and Pediatrics departments of Agostinho Neto Hospital, following searches conducted by the Office of the Attorney General (PGR) at Praia City Hall, stressing that “there is no institutional crisis in Cabo Verde.”

When asked about the case, the Head of State stated that there are several investigations underway in the country and that it is essential to ensure that these investigations take place “in a transparent, comprehensive and equal manner for all, without exceptions,” declining, however, to comment on the specific case.

José Maria Neves recalled that in September of this year he met with former Presidents of the Republic, former Prime Ministers, influential figures and political parties, with the exception of the Movement for Democracy (MpD), which, he said, cited scheduling reasons.
