Cabo Verde receives 20,000 vaccine doses from UNICEF to strengthen the National Vaccination Program

Praia City, Dec 23 (Inforpress) – The Ministry of Health received today from UNICEF 15,000 doses of the rotavirus vaccine, intended for children under one year of age, and 5,000 doses of the 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, intended for children in high-risk groups.

The handover took place this afternoon by the Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF in Cabo Verde, Anna Chyzhkova, to the Minister of Health, Jorge Figueiredo, in the Ministry of Health meeting room in Praia.

These vaccines arrived in Cabo Verde thanks to funds mobilized by UNICEF’s National Committee from Portuguese society.

In his remarks, Minister of Health Jorge Figueiredo thanked UNICEF for the gesture, stating that this cooperation demonstrates the value of partnerships based on trust, solidarity and shared objectives.
