Praia, 18 December (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde and Japan on Wednesday signed an Exchange of Notes Agreement under the Japanese Government’s Food Aid Programme for the 2025 fiscal year, worth 60.5 million escudos.

The agreement was signed during a ceremony attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Regional Integration, José Luís Livramento Brito, and Japan’s ambassador to Cape Verde, Takeshi Akamatsu, providing for a donation of 100 million Japanese yen, equivalent to 60.5 million escudos.

The foreign minister said the programme forms part of a “solid, predictable and long-standing” partnership that has contributed to strengthening Cabo Verde’s food security and economic resilience amid multiple global challenges.

“That is why our cooperation is historic, and the people of Cabo Verde recognise this support and solidarity,” he said, highlighting five decades of cooperation between the two governments.
