Assomada, 18 December (Inforpress) – The Government on Wednesday inaugurated the Northern Santiago Child Emergency Centre and the new premises of the ICCA Delegation, facilities considered strategic for strengthening the protection of children and adolescents at risk.

The Minister for Family, Inclusion and Social Development, Fernando Elísio Freire, who presided over the ceremony in Assomada, said the opening of the centre fulfils commitments made to Northern Santiago.

He highlighted the strengthening of social policies, including the Social Inclusion Income, the increase in the number of social pension beneficiaries and the implementation of the national care policy.

According to the minister, the new facility will provide “greater effectiveness” in child protection measures, serving as a last-resort response in situations of danger, while ensuring shelter, monitoring and social integration.
