Porto Novo, Dec 14 (Inforpress) – The municipality of Porto Novo, on Santo Antão Island, will have a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in 2026 with the capacity to treat 400 cubic meters of water per hour. The infrastructure is already in the implementation phase.

Information obtained by Inforpress indicates that the WWTP is part of ongoing investments in sanitation in Porto Novo, which also include the construction of five kilometers of urban wastewater collection network and eight kilometers of transport network.

Porto Novo will also receive three urban wastewater pumping stations, in addition to 305 household wastewater connection branches.

The National Agency for Water and Sanitation (ANAS), in a recent assessment of the drinking water supply and wastewater sanitation project in Porto Novo, concluded that the works are progressing “at a good pace,” with completion expected by mid-next year.
