Mindelo, Dec 02 (Inforpress) – The sanitation councillor of City Council of São Vicente said today that the municipality has acquired three garbage collection trucks valued at more than 52 million escudos to reinforce the island’s cleaning services.
According to José Carlos da Luz, the Environment and Sanitation sectors are broad areas that consume a significant portion of the municipality’s resources. While he considers São Vicente a clean island, he highlighted the need to maintain this standard.
“We now have three new trucks purchased by the municipal council, and another urban solid waste collection truck offered by the Municipal Council of Porto (Portugal) is already at customs,” he said. He added that, in the coming days, a sewer unclogging vehicle acquired in partnership with the Oeiras Municipal Council will also arrive.
The councillor said these acquisitions provide an immediate response to the population’s sanitation and sewage needs, despite existing shortcomings in the network, given that the latest sanitary plan dates back to 2012 and no longer meets current demand.
