Praia, Oct 20 (Inforpress) - The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance reinforced the Government's commitment to guaranteeing the technical autonomy of the National Statistics Institute (INE) and promoting an institutional culture in which data is treated as a public good.
Olavo Correia emphasized that only with reliable and timely data is it possible to develop effective policies, assess the impact of adopted measures, and ensure transparent governance.
He emphasized that a country that makes decisions based on data and evidence "is a smart country," hence reinforcing the importance of citizens' trust in the production and use of data, calling for the creation of a culture of responsibility, data protection, and institutional transparency.
“It’s not enough to produce statistics; we need to transform them into useful knowledge and action,” he emphasized.
