Praia, Oct 2 (Inforpress) – Cardinal Arlindo Furtado said today that the pilgrimage to Rome and Paris, which he is leading, is, above all, a spiritual path of reconciliation and hope, stressing that “the Christian cannot lose the perspective of eternity.”

From October 3 to 12, the cardinal will lead the pilgrimage to Rome and Paris and will preside over the celebrations for the opening of the Jubilee of the Cape Verdean Diaspora in Europe 2025 C500, as part of the 500th anniversary of the Diocese of Santiago.

Speaking to Inforpress, Arlindo Furtado explained that the trip to Rome, the "center of Christianity," is in line with the tradition of jubilees proclaimed by the Pope every 25 years, aiming to "remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as an act of redemption for humanity."

“Our life in this world has its meaning, but it is connected to eternity, which is our final destiny, our homeland, as Saint Paul said,” the cardinal emphasized.
