Sal-Rei, 15 Sep (Inforpress) – The Fundação Tartaruga concluded the fifth edition of its swimming course, with a series of activities and the presentation of symbolic medals to the 100 participating children.

The closing event, held at Diante Beach, was in partnership with the Maritime and Port Institute and included activities such as an environmental cleanup campaign, a swimming competition, and a lecture on "Health and Well-Being," reinforcing the Foundation's mission of uniting environmental conservation with community safety and well-being.

The initiative began in 2019 after a survey revealed that 80 percent of Boa Vista residents couldn't swim. The high drowning mortality rate in the archipelago reinforced the urgency of training, and the project aims to empower the Boa Vista population to live safely in the sea, aiming to prevent drowning.

Registrations for this 2025 edition reached a record number, with 25% of participants from the areas of Rabil, Fundo das Figueiras and Estância de Baixo, and the remaining 75% from Sal Rei.
