Porto Novo, Aug 18 (Inforpress) – Farmers from various communities in the municipality of Porto Novo, in Santo Antão, are mobilizing at this time to help São Vicente with fresh produce, contributing to food security on the island devastated by floods.

Inforpress found that farmers from Casa de Meio, Jorge Luiz, Ribeira da Cruz, Martiene, Chã de Norte, and other areas are involved in collecting agricultural products for the island of São Vicente, an initiative that has already resulted in the shipment of several tons of surplus produce.

Furthermore, the Santo Antão Agricultural Producers Alliance, in partnership with the non-governmental organizations CERAI and the Friends of Nature Association, is preparing to send at least eight tons of products to São Vicente in the coming weeks.

The leader of this alliance, Vanderley Rocha, told Inforpress that products will begin arriving in São Vicente this week, and the forecast is to deliver between eight and 16 tons of surplus to needy populations over the course of a month.
