Porto Novo, July 21 (Inforpress) – The island of Santo Antão now has an Agricultural Product Inspection and Valuation Center designed to improve distribution, enhance quality, and ensure competitive access to the main national tourist markets.
The infrastructure was inaugurated today by Prime Minister José Ulisses Correia e Silva, who highlighted the center as an “important step towards structuring the value chain of agricultural products” on the island.
According to the chief executive, this is a well-located and multifunctional infrastructure, designed to serve farmers, improve logistics and create conditions that allow Santo Antão's agricultural products to reach the country's main tourist destinations.
‘The aim is to put the Santo Antão brand on the market, with quality,’ he said, emphasising that the aim is to reduce imports and increase domestic production, with a direct impact on producers' incomes and the local economy.
