Maio: Businessman publicises the island's potential and denounces transport problems at business meeting

Porto Inglês, Jun 13 (Inforpress) - João Tavares, a businessman from Maio, is taking part in the second meeting of Afro-descendant businesspeople, to be held in Praia from 27 to 29 June, where he will explain the problems of transport in Maio and publicise the island to businesspeople.

Speaking to Inforpress, the tourism entrepreneur emphasised that the event represents an opportunity to expose the difficulties facing the island, especially the instability of maritime transport.

"It hasn't been possible to guarantee predictability in timetables. Currently, the boat arrives in the early hours of the morning, which leaves visitors without guarantees and seriously jeopardises business," he lamented.

João Tavares warned that due to this situation the number of visitors arriving in Maio by sea ‘has fallen dramatically, directly affecting the tourism sector’.
